The arts bypass our ego to go directly to the source of healing -
the inner imagination.
Hello, I am Genevieve. I am a masters level Expressive Arts Therapist. I have an arts-based phenomenological approach to therapy specializing in eating disorders, body image and self-esteem concerns, and the resultant challenges of anxiety, grief, and depression.
I utilize the arts, including poetry, creative writing, voice, music, drama, dream work, dance, story-telling and visual arts to facilitate healing. I also offer spiritually informed therapy.
You do not need to have experience in art or be a “creative” to do expressive arts therapy. The arts bypass our ego, awaken the senses, and go directly to the source of healing- the inner imagination. There are hidden gems within our inner realms that we access creatively with the arts. It is all about the child within that can’t wait to explore their inner imagination.
You don’t need to be a mystic to access inner imagery. It is just a mode of expression (or an art form) away. Every person deserves to access their human dignity and live a life full of meaning, joy, hope, and grace.
You are worthy, beautiful, full of light.
Creativity allows freedom of expression, the joy of play and being in the moment.
About Genevieve
I have a Master of Arts with a Major in Expressive Arts and a Minor in Psychology from the European Graduate School, a three year diploma as an Expressive Arts Practitioner from World Arts Organization, and a Bachelor of Arts from King’s University College, with a Major in English and a Minor in Psychology.
My experience includes doing research for my thesis through the Eating Disorders Support Network of Alberta (EDSNA), volunteering at the University of Alberta Hospital with Artists on the Ward, and volunteering at River Ridge Senior’s facility in the art room.
I live in the beautiful city of St. Albert, Alberta, with my firefighter husband and actress/singer/volleyball player daughter. I love walks outside all year round with our Pomeranian Bella, family time, and soy lattes. I have recovered from an eating disorder myself and know that hope and recovery are possible for you too.
